Problems.

Sri Lanka, March 15 -- With the development of such a powerful tool there are always bound to be problems that provide easy opportunities to bullies, charlatans, frauds, liars, pederasts and perverts to pull the wool over the eyes of naive users. It allows a wide open ticket for purveyors of pornography, hackers, dodgy chat room hosts, spreaders of false information and swindlers to cash in on the new technology and take in gullible users.

A major threat to the people who use the internet, especially children, is the sex industry. It is very hard to ignore as there are thousands of sites of which many have very harmless sounding site names. This makes it extremely easy for children to access intentionally or accidentally sites which are inappropriate and can have harmful effects on young impressionable minds. But as in any debate one has to weigh the good with the bad.

But many of these negative aspects can be avoided by effective parental controls and users getting wiser. Parents and guardians are expected to do their bit in effectively monitoring child surfing, setting up boundaries and tightening security controls.

However, in the opinion of the majority, the positive effects of using the Internet heavily outweigh its drawbacks. It is obvious that the development of the Internet is connected with a number of great positive changes and new opportunities for all of us. Therefore, many are convinced that for every aspect of today's life, the Internet and modern Internet technologies can be controlled to cause far more good than actual harm.
