Aust stocks weaker at noon, News Corp down three pct

The Australian share market continued to slide at noon today after weak trade in the
US overnight.

The bourse was weaker across the board, led by News Corp which dropped more than three
per cent by 12.44pm (AEDT).

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 26.7 points to 3,220.9 while the all ordinaries
index slipping 26.0 points to 3,226.0.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract lost 26 points
to 3,220 -- a 0.9 point discount to the underlying index -- on a volume of 52,682.

On Wall St overnight early gains made on news of SADDAM HUSSEIN'S capture could not
be sustained and all its major indices finished lower.
